What Are Some of the Risks of Having Breast Implants?

As a general rule of thumb, the saline filled implants will not have any real risks associated except for such a case that the saline solution becomes contaminated by bacteria or fungus. When the saline implant fails, assuming there is no contamination, it simply deflates and the saline solution is absorbed into the body with no repercussions.

Other than general failure, an implant can also rupture from excessive pressure. In general the main long-term liability associated with breast implants all has to do with the implants themselves. The biggest liability is in truth, the silicon filled breast implants.

If a silicon based implant were to rupture, the possible issues become enormous. The mild complications include swelling and possible lymph node growths around the breast, while the extreme can see lymph node growth on the lungs and even painful and disabling diseases.
